How do vampire facials work?

22nd October 2018

The beauty magazines have been promoting the benefits of having a facial once a month for what seems like forever. This allows them to have new facials to write about and portray them as the second coming in beauty news. It fills column inches, as well as undeniably giving your skin a boost. What if the ultimate facial had already arrived and converts to it know that there’s no longer any point in reading about new products in the market, when their preferred choice can so effectively kick-start collagen production and naturally turn back the clock on your skin. News flash – this is the case and the name of the treatment is – The Vampire Facial! After the recommended 3 sessions, you’ll only need to top up every 6 months to maintain your new visibly rejuvenated look!

What is a vampire facial?

The vampire facial was born out out a practise that was proven to help sports injuries heal quicker. Athletes had a measurement equivalent to a  couple of dessert-spoons of blood removed and then spun in a centrifuge to separate the white from the red blood cells. The plasma part of the blood, which is rich in growth factors and will stimulate collagen production, as well as speed up the cell turnover rate, is then injected back into the injured area. The resulting skin was so smooth and youthful, there was a realisation these PRP therapy techniques could have an application in the beauty industry.

Now, platelet rich plasma is removed from clients during cosmetic procedures, spun in a centrifuge in exactly the same way, before being injected back into targeted areas of the face. It might sound gruesome, but the results prove that if you’re looking for a facial that will truly provide an effective rejuvenation, this works.

Who would a vampire facial benefit?

Anybody who feels concerned about fine lines on their face due to the ageing process, skin discolouration, overly large pores and uneven skin contour would benefit from a vampire facial. PRP therapy can smooth out lines and wrinkles, give you a more even skin colour and texture, as well as reduce the size of your pores.
