If you’re still wondering what dermal fillers are and how they can help you, we have created an FAQ with all your questioned answered below.
What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are an injectable gel like substance that contain hyaluronic acid which is a natural occurring sugar in the skin which the filler itself uses. The acid is essential to your skin as it creates bounce and firmness, which is why dermal fillers are effective in volume because this sugar occurs naturally within the body and your skin will accept the dermal filler with ease.
Are they temporary?
Often confused with dermal fillers that use silicon, injectable dermal fillers which use hyaluronic acid are not permanent. Permanent dermal fillers are not buildable, meaning that they cannot be amended or customised to reach your desired results and come hand in hand with heavy risks. Temporary dermal fillers naturally dissolve in your skin over time exactly how your hyaluronic acid reserved do which creates no complaint from your body.
What areas do they treat?
A big reason why dermal fillers are so popular is due to their adaptability whereas many non surgical treatments rely on their ability to reshape and volume. The uses for dermal fillers include:
- Smoothening wrinkles and folds
- Crow feet / lines at the corner of the eyes
- Frown lines between the eyebrows
- Vertical lines above the top lip
- Smile lines from the side of the nose to the corners of the mouth
- Lip enhancement
- Adding volume to the lip/skin border
- Filling sunken cheeks and weak chins
- Filling acne and other scars
When will I see results?
You’ll typically be with us for around 45 minutes to an hour for the treatment and results are usually seen almost immediately after the treatment has been completed.
What are the aftercare procedures?
Ensuring the correct aftercare practice is extremely important as how you care for the treated area will affect the success rate and length of your results. It is advised that you avoid rubbing the treated area for 24 hours and if possible, to avoid exercise for at least 24 hours. Avoiding external treatments such as sun beds or exposing the treated areas to direct sunlight for 3 – 4 days post treatment is required however applying makeup post treatment and continuing your regular skin care regime is fine.
